All federal agencies were required to submit their plans to reopen by July 19, 2021. Still, the Biden appointed acting commissioner of the SSA, Kilolo Kijakazi, stated in a July 20 letter that the White House has given her more time. Kijakazi has not provided a proposed reopening date. She stated, “I take this effort seriously, and we have been given a little more time to finalize our plan so that I can ensure it is informed by our employees and stakeholders. Therefore, I will share more information soon.”
As the SSA continues to adapt to changes due to COVID-19 and a new Commissioner we will keep you up to date with the latest developments. If you have additional questions, reach out to Viner Disability Law.
