Time between request for hearing and actual hearing

How long is the wait before the hearing with the judge?

The wait between the appeal, the request for hearing, and actual hearing before an administrative law judge has traditionally been the longest period of waiting during the disability process.  Thankfully, recent developments have dramatically decreased the the waiting period, and hearings are often scheduled within eight months after the filing of the request for hearing.  This is an extremely variable range, and ongoing changes with the SSA and hearing office, and Covid-19, could impact both positively and negatively.
