Our commitment

Viner Disability Law is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. As a Social Security disability law firm, our audience is disproportionately likely to have visual, motor, cognitive, or hearing impairments. We take that seriously.

This site is built and maintained to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the most widely-adopted international accessibility standard. We are also working toward WCAG 2.2 conformance as those guidelines see expanded enforcement.

Specific commitments

  • Color contrast: all text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Keyboard navigation: every interactive element on this site can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone.
  • Screen reader compatibility: the site uses semantic HTML and ARIA attributes (where native HTML cannot do the job) to ensure screen reader users have access to all content.
  • Images: every image that conveys information has descriptive alternative text.
  • Forms: every form field has a programmatically-associated label and accessible error messaging.
  • Headings: the site uses a logical heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) without skipped levels.
  • Motion: the site respects the prefers-reduced-motion user setting and disables animations for users who request it.
  • Target size: interactive elements meet WCAG 2.5.5 Target Size (Level AAA) where feasible — buttons and links are at least 44×44 pixels.
  • Reading level: primary content is written at a Grade 6–8 reading level. Critical instructions and CTAs are written even more plainly.

What we do NOT use

We do not use accessibility-overlay plugins (UserWay, AccessiBe, EqualWeb, or similar). These tools overlay code on top of inaccessible websites that does not fix the underlying issues, degrades the user experience for many disabled users, and is widely opposed by disability advocates. Real accessibility comes from how the site is built, not from an overlay.

Testing and audit cadence

  • Pre-launch audit: the site was tested against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria before launch using both automated tools (axe, Lighthouse) and manual review (keyboard navigation, screen reader testing).
  • Monthly automated scans: Lighthouse and axe scans run on top traffic pages.
  • Quarterly manual review: we manually re-test a sample of pages with keyboard-only navigation and screen reader use.
  • Annual third-party audit: a comprehensive accessibility audit is conducted annually. This statement is updated after each audit.

Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not be fully accessible. Known limitations as of this update:

  • Third-party embeds (e.g., Google Maps, Clio Grow form, embedded videos) may have accessibility issues we cannot fully control. We work with vendors to improve.
  • Older blog content may not meet current standards. We are progressively updating older pages.

When reporting an issue, please describe:

  1. The page URL where you encountered the problem
  2. What you were trying to do
  3. What happened (or what didn’t happen)
  4. The browser, device, and assistive technology you were using (if applicable)

We aim to acknowledge accessibility complaints within two business days and to resolve material issues within thirty days.

Standards and authority

This site conforms with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III as those statutes apply to commercial websites. The WCAG 2.1 AA conformance level is the working standard most plaintiff-side ADA attorneys and federal courts evaluate against in website-accessibility lawsuits.
