In September 2016, client Y.R., a disabled worker living in Golden, Colorado, contacted Viner Disability Law about filing for Social Security disability benefits because he was no longer able to work because of the severe symptoms caused by his prostate cancer. After speaking with one of Viner Disability Law’s attorneys over the phone, Y.R. met with William Viner in-person in the firm’s Denver office. Viner Disability Law began representing Y.R. on his initial application for Social Security disability benefits and assisted him in filing his claim during his initial in-person meeting. In addition, Viner Disability Law filed a critical needs request with Disability Determination Services (DDS) and helped Y.R. complete his work history report and adult function report, both of which are required by the Social Security Administration (SSA) in every initial application for disability benefits.
In response to Y.R.’s initial application, critical needs request, and supporting medical and other evidence, the SSA awarded Y.R. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits in November 2016, allowing Y.R. to begin receiving Social Security disability benefits without having to attend an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) hearing at the Denver Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR).
